Jacky "JAX" Niven, formerly Jacky Webb was born in 1968 and grew up in Manchester. In the late 1980’s she enjoyed modest success with her Artworks working as a commercial illustrator and undertaking commissions for portrait work.
A career change in 1992 led her to leave Manchester for Scotland where the abundant and glorious wildlife has proven to be her inspiration.
Jacky has been working as a Tutor of young people with challenging behaviour and physical barriers to overcome. Using Art, Media & Music she found ways of engaging and connecting with the teenagers in particular with those who struggled with traditional educational techniques
A full-time Artist, Jacky has been producing works inspired by the local Wildlife, Agriculture & Landscape. Her works have sold locally and throughout the UK and overseas. Working mainly in oils, her style is a modern take on impressionism and abstracts capturing the every changing mood of the climate and her surroundings.
A change in mood and direction has taken the artist on a different journey exploring her childhood anxieties fuelled by various stimuli experienced as a child growing up during the 70's and the nuclear age. Also she is about embark on a series of works influenced by her synesthesia condition.
